INFINITE COMPASSION FOR THOSE IN NEED

Giving is at the very core of our personal and company values.  “Do unto others as you would have done to you” is not just a saying we use.  It is a directive for our lives.  We believe that the meaning of life is to become the best version of ourselves.  In order for one to become the best version of one’s self, we should, at the foundational level, offer the first fruits of our labors to those who need it the most.

The best advice I have ever received went something like this… “If you are investing your resources in things – not people – then you have already lost in life.”   Every day we are bombarded with examples of people who are obsessed with things, houses, cars, clothes, jewelry, etc.  We can all agree that it’s nice to have nice things. However, our culture has a demented “me, me, me” mindset and we know where that mindset leads.  The world is full of me, me, me people.  I assure you that a selfish life is nothing but a one way trip to loneliness and insignificance.  You will never be able to buy enough “stuff” to fill your heart’s desire to be a good human being.

Every person in this world is unique, with a special set of talents that they can offer the world.  My passion as a human being is to help as many people as possible reveal those talents to the world.  In order to work at The Infinite Boost, you must have a personal cause that you champion.  If you don’t arrive here with one, we will help you find one of your own, or you can join the many causes we support.

In the past several years, we learned that an overwhelming majority of people would love to spend a percentage of their time and money on giving back to things that they are passionate about. The number one excuse they give is that they don’t know how to get started, and they are fearful that their contribution will not be significant enough. It is important to realize that you have to start somewhere.  A tree doesn’t become a tree in an instant.  A tiny seed is planted and over time transforms into a giant tree.  Just get started with something small.  Think of a time when you helped someone in need, how did it feel?  Now think about how you could do more next time.  Then take a minute to understand how your gift to another person made them feel.

THE STARFISH STORY

“Once upon a time, there was an old man who had a habit of walking on the beach every morning. Early one morning, he was walking along the shore after a big storm had passed and found the vast beach littered with starfish as far as the eye could see, stretching in both directions.

Off in the distance, the old man noticed a small boy approaching. The boy was feverishly picking up starfish and throwing them as far as he could back into the ocean. As the old man approached the boy, the old man called out, “Good morning! May I ask what it is that you are doing?”

The young boy who was working feverishly paused, looked up, and replied “I’m throwing these starfish back into the ocean. The tide has washed them up onto the beach and they can’t return to the sea by themselves,”. “When the sun gets high, they will die, unless I throw them back into the water.”

The old man said, “But there must be tens of thousands of starfish on this beach. I’m afraid you won’t really be able to make much of a difference.”

The boy bent down, picked up yet another starfish and threw it as far as he could into the ocean. Then he turned, smiled and said, “I made a difference to that one!”  Adapted from The Star Thrower, by Loren Eiseley (1907 – 1977)
